How to buy bullion precious metals

Whether you are looking to buy gold or silver, physical bullion or go into a Kitco Pool - Metal Account, below are the answers to some questions regarding how to buy precious metals from Kitco. See our FAQ pages for specific information on our methods of payments and shipping fees.

  1. What precious metal products can I buy from Kitco’s online store?

    Kitco sells a wide variety of precious metal bullion products and storage services. Precious metal bullion products sold by Kitco include coins and bars made by

    • The United States Mint
    • The Royal Canadian Mint
    • The Perth Mint
    • The Austrian Mint
    • Many other reputed refiners

    In addition to precious metal bullion products that can be delivered to you, we also sell precious metals for unallocated storage through Kitco Pool - Metal Accounts and for allocated storage through our Kitco Allocated Storage program.

    How can I buy precious metal bullion products from Kitco?

    You will need to open a Kitco account before buying precious metals. For instructions, see “How do I open a Kitco account?” Once your account has been opened, you can buy precious metal products (coins and bars) from Kitco in two different ways:

    • Over the telephone
      • Call 1 877 775-4826 or 514 313-9999 to buy over the telephone
      • Our business hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. ET, Monday to Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET on Fridays.

     

    Is there a minimum amount of precious metals that I must buy?

    Yes, but only for physical bullion purchases.

    When is a price confirmed?

    A price is confirmed when you make your purchase online or over the telephone. Depending on the value of your purchase, there are certain additional requirements for confirming your price. For details, see “When is a deposit of funds required to buy precious metals? Do I need to pay to confirm a price?” All prices on our website are real-time prices that fluctuate with the spot market price.

    When is a deposit of funds required to buy precious metals? Do I need to pay to confirm a price?

    Under certain conditions, you need to deposit funds to purchase precious metals and confirm a price. The deposit requirements depend on your country of residence (or the location of your principal place of business) and the total value of your open transactions*, as follows:

    Within the United States or Canada

    Please note: to ensure compliance with anti-money laundering/counter-terrorist financing regulations, incoming payments are subject to review. We may request additional information or documents to clarify the source of funds.

    *For the determination of collateral requirements, the value of all open transactions (outstanding/incomplete purchases and sales) is considered in addition to the value of the current purchase. Sales of Kitco Pool, VaultChainTM or Kitco Allocated Storage deposits are not included in open transactions. The value of your open transactions is considered in U.S. dollars if your current purchase is in U.S. dollars. For purchases in other currencies, your open transaction values are considered in the equivalents of U.S. dollars, rounded up to the nearest $1,000.

    †Your credit card will only be used to confirm your price and, at Kitco’s discretion, to recoup any market loss charges and other fees that may become payable.

    ‡Funds on account are considered cleared when there are no holds placed on the funds. A cleared Kitco Pool holding, Kitco Pool holding, VaulChainTM holding or Kitco Allocated Storage deposit is one that is fully paid for and against which no claims are outstanding.
