The U.S. government guarantees that each American Gold Buffalo coin contains .9999 fine gold with an explicit troy ounce weight struck on the coin. The U.S.A.’s Secret Service enforces the government’s American Buffalo Gold coin guarantee.
U.S. Gold coins are currently exempt from IRS 1099-B gold dealer reporting requirements in the United States. This makes the American Gold Buffalo coin one of the most private assets an investor can own outright, unencumbered by counter-party risks.
Gold Buffalo coins are offered in a 1 oz gold coin size. The American Gold Buffalo coin is considered by many gold bullion industry experts, one of the best gold coins available throughout the physical gold bullion market.
Gold Buffalo Coin Prices
American Buffalo Gold coin prices are based on the world’s fluctuating gold spot price.
When physical gold supplies cannot properly meet demand, the premium or price per Gold Buffalo coin over the gold spot price can increase sharply (e.g. 2008 Financial Crisis gold coin shortage).
These official 24k US gold coins also have low legal tender face values (compared to their precious metal market values) which assures these .9999 fine gold coins will not actively circulate nor compete with Federal Reserve Notes (most commonly called US dollars).
Higher Gold Coin Prices when Buying
American Gold Buffalo coins are one of the most popular 24k gold coins minted by a government in terms of overall sales volumes. These pure gold coins also demand some of the gold bullion industry’s highest gold coin buy back prices (the rate at which gold dealers are buying these gold coins back at).
In general gold dealers pay a price premium above the fluctuating gold spot price when buying American Buffalo Gold coins back from investors. This is often not the case with other less popular or well-known gold coins.
Higher Gold Coin Prices when Selling
American Buffalo 1 oz gold coins also demand perhaps the highest gold coin asking prices amongst other modern competing government 24k gold coins (e.g. 24k Canadian Maple Leaf gold coins or 24k Australian Perth Mint Kangaroo Gold coins).
In summation, an American Buffalo Gold coin’s price per ounce will usually be both slightly higher when (1) buying and (2) selling them than compared to other competing high mintage 24k gold bullion coins.
American Buffalo Gold Coin Design
The American Buffalo Gold coin’s is a throwback modification of James Earle Frasers Indian Head nickel design issued from 1913 to 1938.
This modern 24k US gold coin has its obverse (or front of the gold coin) stamped with the profile of a Native American. He is said to be a mixture of 3 chiefs from different American Indian tribes (Two Moons, Big Tree, and Iron Tail). Also struck on this 24k US gold coin’s front is the motto ‘LIBERTY’ on the top right, the year of strike on the bottom left, and below that the letter F for the last name of the .9999 fine gold coin’s designer (Fraser).
The gold coin’s reverse (or back side of this 24k gold coin) is struck with the depiction of an American Bison (commonly miscalled a buffalo which are only naturally found in Africa and Asia). Above the bison’s gold back are the words ‘UNITED•STATES•OF•AMERICA’ and ‘E PLURIBUS UNUM’ (Latin meaning: out of many, one). Also struck on this official American 24k gold coin’s reverse backside is its $50 USD legal tender face value and 1 OZ .9999 FINE GOLD. Finally the motto, IN GOD WE TRUST is struck underneath the golden bison’s head.
