This celebrated series honors the ten heraldic beasts that stood as statues during the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. Each creature symbolizes royal ancestry and lineage.

The Yale is a mythical beast said to be the size of a hippo, with the tail of an elephant, boar-like jaws, and distinctive curled horns. On this coin, the Yale stands powerfully with its hooves raised above a shield featuring a crowned portcullis—one of the Tudor monarch’s favored symbols. The creature’s elaborate horns are rendered in exquisite detail.
