Authorized by Congress via the Bullion Coin Act of 1985, the American classic, Gold American Eagle coin has been minted by the United States Mint since 1986. And this is the last year with this classic design!

The obverse surface of the coin is inspired by one of America’s most beautiful coins, the $20 gold piece that was minted from 1907-1933 and was designed by the renowned sculptor, Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The reverse surface of the coin, designed by the sculptor Miley Busiek, features a male eagle carrying an olive branch flying above a nest containing a female eagle and her hatchlings. In addition to this stirringly American imagery, the coin bears inscriptions of its weight, face value and year of mintage.

The weight, content and purity of Gold American Eagles are guaranteed by the Government of the United States of America.
