Introduced in 2005 under the Presidential $1 Coin Act, 1 oz Gold American Buffalo Coins are the first pure gold (99.99%) bullion coin official to the USA. By law, each coin is struck with newly mined gold sourced from within the nation. The traditional buffalo design is based on the Type 1 design by noted American sculptor James Earle Fraser.
