Buy 2018 1/4 oz Silver Coin - Birthstone - September.9999

The pure silver September Birthstone coin is the ninth silver coin in the 12 coin birthstone series. Like the other silver coins in this beautiful series from the Royal Canadian Mint, the sapphire birthstone coin features a genuine Swarovski® crystal to represent the September birthstone, a gorgeous blue sapphire. A variety of the mineral corundum, sapphires are typically blue, however, "fancy" sapphires in yellow, purple, orange and green also occur naturally. As do "parti" sapphires that show two or more of these colors.  Sapphires cannot be red, as red colored corundum is called a ruby.

With its celestial hues, the sapphire is steeped in the history and lore of nearly every religion. In the Middle Ages, the clergy wore sapphires as a symbol for heaven while commoners thought it attracted blessings.  It carries symbolism of wisdom and royalty, and is also the gem that celebrates Queen Elizabeth II’s 65th jubilee, the blue sapphire jubilee. The sapphire is the gem of the 45th anniversary, making this silver coin the perfect wedding or anniversary present.  Do you know someone having a baby or a birthday in September? This pure silver coin with its sapphire colored Swarovski® crystal is also a beautiful  and unique birthday or baby shower gift.

The Royal Canadian Mint worked with Canadian artist Pandora Young, who was inspired by mehndi, the ancient Indian tradition of henna tattoos. The mandala's beautifully engraved layered pattern, mid-relief lotus, and selective color, naturally draw your eye in.

The Swarovski® crystal represents the month’s birthstone, while the 12 points on the lotus represent the 12 months of the year.

This finely minted pure silver collectible coin has a limited mintage of only 4,000 worldwide. This means that they are likely to sell out quickly. Each 2018 1/4 oz Silver Coin - Birthstone - September .9999 comes ready to gift. The silver coin is protected in an acrylic capsule, nestled in a clamshell gift box featuring the Royal Canadian Mint logo.
