The largest member of the kingfisher family of birds, the joyously named laughing kookaburra is one of the most popular Australian birds. The coin’s reverse depicts a flying kookaburra about to land under the moon. The obverse surface bears an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The coin is also clearly inscribed with its year of mintage, denomination, weight and fineness. Each coin is presented in a protective acrylic case. The mintage of the coin is capped at 500,000 coins and, for the first year, it is now a .9999 fine silver coin!
