On the reverse, the majestic figure of El Ángel de la Independencia (The Angel of Independence) stands in the foreground, with the iconic volcanoes Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl forming a dramatic backdrop. The Angel is modeled after the famous victory column commemorating Mexico’s War of Independence.
