About 2018 1 oz Silver British Lunar Dog Coin
2018 1 oz Silver British Year of the Dog Lunar Coins
The 1 oz Silver Year of the Dog Coin is the fifth release in the Shengxiào Collection—a 12-coin series honoring the animals of the Chinese lunar calendar.
In Chinese culture, the dog is the eleventh animal in the zodiac cycle and symbolizes loyalty, honesty, and protection. This 2018 edition was designed by British-Chinese artist Wuon-Gean Ho and features a joyful terrier mid-leap. The abstract background is inspired by the unique nose print of a friend’s greyhound.
This coin has an unusual mintage of 138,888, a number chosen to symbolize good fortune, as the number eight is considered especially lucky in Chinese culture.
