The coin celebrates the Year of the Rooster, the tenth animal in the 12-year cycle of Chinese zodiac. Under the influence of this sign, people born in the Year of the Rooster - 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005 and 2017 are regarded as hardworking, loyal, honest and sociable.
Each coin’s reverse depicts a rooster, a hen and three chicks standing amongst bamboo foliage and flower. The Chinese character for “Rooster” and the inscription “Year of the Rooster” also appear in the design with the “Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark. The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the year of mintage, the denomination and the weight and fineness of the coin appear on its obverse surface. Each coin is presented in a protective acrylic case.
