With a limited mintage of 1 million coins, these 2015 1 oz Silver Australian Funnel-Web Spider Coins are a fantastic silver bullion piece to add to one’s silver coin collection.
An insect with a potentially deadly venomous bite, the funnel-web spider is primarily native to eastern Australia. With body lengths ranging from 1 to 5 cm, these darkly colored spiders have large and powerful fangs that are capable of penetrating fingernails or soft shoes. Preferring cool, moist and sheltered areas such as under rocks, logs or in rough-barked trees, the funnel-web spider characteristically builds silk trip-lines at the entrance of their burrows to alert it of incoming prey or dangers.
The back of this low mintage silver coin features a large funnel-web spider, fully displaying its sprawling legs and hairy body with the Perth Mint’s traditional “P” mintmark. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is shown on the obverse of this silver coin with the legal tender monetary denomination and year of mintage (2015).
