New for 2016, the Chinese mint shifted to a metric unit of measurement system for their gold bullion coins, and what was formerly the 1 oz Gold Panda Coin is now the 30 gram Gold Panda Coin. Each of these slightly smaller gold bullion coins contain 30 grams or 0.964522 ounces of .999 fine gold bullion.
Struck by the official mint of the People's Republic of China, the obverse of this 30 gram Gold Chinese Panda Coin features the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. Its reverse bears an annually changing motif of the panda, the lovable animal that has become an icon of wildlife conservation.
Its incorporation of elements from quintessentially Chinese architecture and fauna has made this coin popular among collectors.
